Food Perspectives

What are food perspectives? Perhaps this story will help you understand. My mom’s side of the family is Greek. I don’t remember too much about my grandfather except what he said every time at the beginning of dinner, “To a healthy life.”

He wasn’t referring to health the way we think of health. To him, healthy had a completely different meaning.

Talk about eaters and drinkers; you would think every single family member of mine struggles with obesity. But they don’t.

Most of them, including the older males, are in good shape and are pretty close to their ideal weight. How is this possible when I witnessed, first hand, my uncle eat enough food to feed a small village?

It’s possible based upon perspective…Do you see food as central to a celebration of life, family, and friends? Or do you see food as the reason for the celebration?

Think about it. Where do you place food in your life? The answer to the question can be the difference between celebrating life or waiting to lose 20 pounds before celebrating life.
